WRI-26: a limited recall affecting eight U.S. vehicles

Subaru announced recall WRI-26 for certain 2026 Crosstrek and Forester vehicles because the left-front lower control-arm ball-joint nut may not have been tightened correctly. The joint could separate and cause a loss of control. Subaru identifies only eight affected U.S. vehicles; do not assume that your Subaru is included based on its model or year. Ask a Subaru retailer to check your VIN.

If Subaru confirms that your vehicle is affected, keep it parked until the required inspection and remedy are complete. Contact our Service team before traveling so the retailer can arrange no-cost towing and inspection, with any necessary recall repair at no charge. Confirm current repair and transportation arrangements; this page does not promise parts or appointment availability.

Prepare for a Service Conversation

Have your VIN, current mileage and a short description of your concern ready. If you received a Subaru notice, mention its campaign number and bring the notice with you. Let our team know about any transportation or accessibility needs when planning a visit.

  • Confirm the right next step. Ask whether the notice applies to your individual vehicle and what inspection or repair it requires.
  • Discuss timing before traveling. Confirm appointment availability and any parts, towing or transportation arrangements with the Service team.
  • Keep your service information together. Bring relevant prior repair paperwork and explain any symptoms or questions you want addressed.

An online scheduling request does not itself confirm recall eligibility, parts availability or completion of a repair. Follow any specific safety instructions Subaru provides for your vehicle.
