The Subaru Crosstrek has two engine configurations to take you on a fun and smooth journey. The traditional SUBARU BOXER® engine delivers consistent power, while the hybrid option prioritizes efficiency. Which will you choose?

For 2026, gas and hybrid Crosstrek trims have a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, except Wilderness, which is rated up to 3,500 pounds. Trailer brakes may be needed. Follow the owner’s manual and confirm the hitch, trailer and loading requirements for your vehicle.

Making the Ride Smoother

The Subaru Crosstrek comes standard with the Subaru-exclusive Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. This unique drivetrain sends energy to each wheel as needed, providing optimal power when you face mud and other obstacles. It includes Dual-Function X-MODE®, a feature that further enhances the already impressive all-wheel drive capabilities. This system includes two selectable modes to further enhance traction: Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud.

On top of the smooth driving experience you get from the advanced AWD system, the Crosstrek also comes standard with the Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission. Rather than being refined to pre-set gear ratios, the Crosstrek can make micro-adjustments as needed based on driving habits. The result is more seamless acceleration as you merge onto the highway.

When facing paved hills or rocky mountainsides, you’ll appreciate the standard Incline Start Assist and Hill Descent Control system. These advanced features help maintain vehicle control when ascending or descending to offer more stability and confidence in every environment.

A Spacious Interior

As bold as the Subaru Crosstrek looks from the curb, it's even bigger on the inside. You and your passengers will find plenty of room to stretch out as you prepare for your road trip. For 2026, gas models offer up to 100.5 cubic feet of passenger space. Passenger volume varies with trim, powertrain and moonroof equipment. The measurements below describe gas models without a moonroof; Hybrid and moonroof-equipped models have different headroom.

For 2026, most gas trims provide 19.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 54.7 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks lowered. Wilderness offers 20.0 and 54.9 cubic feet, respectively; Hybrid models offer 18.6 and 50.6 cubic feet. Choose the powertrain and trim that fit your passenger and cargo needs.

Capable Exterior

If you find yourself going from tight city streets on weekdays to narrow off-road paths on the weekends, the Subaru Crosstrek has you covered. For 2026, Crosstrek models measure 176.4 inches long. Most trims are 70.9 inches wide; Wilderness is 71.7 inches wide. Check your selected vehicle and available clearance when planning parking or garage space.

Available features like Reverse Automatic Braking increases confidence when parking. This advanced system monitors the area behind your SUV and can alert you to hazards that may be out of sight. When conditions are met, automatic braking may occur to help avoid obstacles.

For 2026, most Crosstrek trims have 8.7 inches of ground clearance, while Wilderness has 9.3 inches. Ground clearance can help on uneven terrain, but always assess obstacles, trail conditions and your vehicle’s limits before proceeding.

Inside the Subaru Crosstrek, every mile is full of entertainment, thanks to the Subaru Multimedia System, which brings your favorite apps and important info to you while you’re on the go. The available 11.6-inch touchscreen provides a clear view of your readouts, making it easy to stay connected and informed. You’ll also have access to your contacts with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration.

An available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot can connect compatible devices on the go. An active AT&T data subscription is required; vehicle capability and network coverage affect availability. Check your selected vehicle and plan terms.
